Background Checks and References
Each of our Maternity Nurses has been interviewed at length, her references checked, her qualifications verified and, once she starts working though Maternally Yours, her on-going suitability is continually monitored. We telephone as many previous employers as possible and send them a Reference Check Form which, when returned, goes into the Maternity Nurse's file.
All our Maternity Nurses also undergo Enhanced DBS checks, to show that:
- They don’t have a criminal record
- They aren’t considered unsuitable to work with children or vulnerable adults.
Each certificate is valid for 3 years, after which time our Maternity Nurses will provide us with a further up-to-date certificate.
The Enhanced DBS Certificate replaces the CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) Certificate and is an official written confirmation from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) that the certificate holder has a clean criminal record. We insist on seeing the original certificate and hold a copy for our file.
We will also ask for a recent utility bill and take a copy of her passport. These are just some of the many checks that we perform before considering whether to invite a Maternity Nurse to join The Maternally Yours Register.
